Banned Book

While spontaneously searching through google, I stumbled upon this:
http://www.inquisitr.com/145784/banned-books-week-celebrates-30th-anniversary/
and it was this week so I thought it was cool, The Awakening, as we've mentioned before was baned for sometime, and I thought it would be cool to resurface the discusion on why...

  1. Does anyone know . . . .Did the U.S. ban the Awakening (from publishing)? Or was it just in certain states?

  2. I can imagine why... I wonder if they were worried that Edna's rebellious behavior might cause some issues...? Even in the '70s and '80s there was still a lot of prejudice against women, so I think officials might have been nervous about that. About the "certain states" question... I found this: http://www.abffe.org/bbw-classkc-chopin.htm but this is more current about what people are wanting.
